25.03.2025 THE TRIP HAS STARTED

BLOG PART 1: Life on the Road with Roo: Capturing Europe with our Caribbean Rescue Dog and FPV Drones

We’re in currently in Andalusia, Spain—six days left before we hit the road again. Roo’s asleep in the sun, we’re both glued to screens finishing edits, clearing storage, stitching drone clips, and figuring out where we’re heading next. This trip isn’t a holiday—it’s a full-time creative mission, and our rescue dog Roo is at the centre of it all.

We’ve travelled through France, climbed the winding passes of the Pyrenees, and finally settled here for a month to reset. It’s been wild, challenging, and full of moments we’ve somehow managed to capture—just the two of us, working around the clock to share Roo’s story.

From Jungle Dog to European Explorer

If you’re not familiar with Roo, she was found outside our jungle home, Little Diamond, in Barbados. We were mid-renovation when she showed up—skinny, unsure, and full of potential. She’s been with us ever since.

Now she’s the heartbeat of our journey and the face of @island_pup_roo. This isn’t just a dog Instagram—it’s a real story. Roo’s story. From the Caribbean jungle to the UK, now exploring Europe, she’s leading the way. We’re just following with cameras, drones,, and a few spare batteries.

Filming a Dog with a Drone (Yes, It’s as Hard as It Sounds, Especially FPV)

Capturing Roo from the sky sounds dreamy—and yeah, when it works, it’s pure magic—but most of the time it’s chaos. She’s unpredictable. One minute she’s calmly sniffing wildflowers, the next she’s sprinting down a cliff path, gone in seconds.

I fly FPV drones, so we’re talking fast, cinematic shots—no room for error. You only get one shot, maybe two if you’re lucky. And when the timing, the light, and Roo’s mood line up—it hits. You feel it.

Those are the moments we live for.

Two-Person Team, 24/7 Hustle

We do everything ourselves. My partner is the storyteller—every caption, every blog post, the voice behind Roo’s journey. I’m the tech side of things—editing, drone piloting, making sure our sites run smoothly, formatting e-books, fixing laptops when they melt under too much footage.

I’m like the behind-the-scenes IT guy, drone operator, editor and support system all in one. We don’t stop. We’re either filming, editing, writing, or planning. Late nights. Early mornings. Always chasing the next bit of light or story or strange little moment Roo gives us.

We’re also creating e-books whilst, doing brand collabs with dog companies we actually believe in (no gimmicks, no garbage), and slowly building a brand around something that feels meaningful—not just for us, but for anyone watching.

What’s Next

We’ve got six days left in Andalusia before we start moving again. No van, no set plan—just a car, a camera bag, and Roo in the back. She’s guiding us really, wherever she looks happiest, that’s usually where we stay.

If you want to follow the journey—both sides of it—check out our Instagram and YouTube channels below (cinemtaic series coming soon to my channel). You’ll see the polished clips, sure, but also the mess behind them. The process, the fails, the random wins. It’s all part of it.

This is Roo’s life now. And we’re just trying to keep up.
